Showroom spring summer 2012

Things are constantly moving and changing in our showroom----I am especially inspired at the start of every new season. I want the showroom to look timeless yet fresh. The inspiration for spring and summer was about beautiful colors and unexpected fabrics.

We have some fabulous new additions and have been lucky to find pieces that are unique. As many of you know, French blue and turquoiseare favorites of mine. I like to use them as a neutral, mixed with citron and marigold yellows, spring green and various shades of purple.

Since so many of my Notebook readers are outside of Dallas---I thought it might be fun to share some of the photos of our showroom, styled for Spring and Summer 2012. For those of you who live in Dallas, please drop in, our showroom is retail and to the trade.

There are so many things to say about this photo. The square faux bamboo coffee table looks wonderful styled with lots of books and pretty glass pieces. The fretwork pillows are ivory linen with Houles. Turquoise is a universally flattering color and these pillows work beautifully in any setting. The lamps are a very rare Murano pair---they are olive green with bright aqua details.

These yellow patent fauteuils are fabulous! They’re in the style of Louis XV and are low and deep----very comfortable! The 1960’s coffee table was refinished in black forest green lacquer. The green velvet on the waxed mahogany wing back chairs attributed to Dorothy Draper is unexpected for spring.

You’ve probably heard me say before that I love mixing periods and styles. This vignette is a perfect example. The coffee table is cerused oak from Paris, circa 1940. The yellow bergere, brass floor lamp, mirror framed mirror and deep blue Murano lamps are from Italy, circa 1940. The Lucite x-based tables are also from Paris, circa 1960. The palm frond chairs are from Palm Beach, circa 1960.The banquette, cowhide rug and pillows are new.

I bought these Murano lamps on my last trip to Paris---They are most unusualbecause of the color.

These ivory lacquer fretwork side tables are a great size to flank a sofa and the perfect neutral for showing off brightly colored Murano lamps.

A view from the other side of the caramel room. The credenza is African sapele wood with a waxed finish and the original brass hardware from 1960. The Murano lamp looks like a yellow version of my Venetian Series # 4, but it is actually vintage.

The chocolate room in our showroom is typically more casual. The chairs are Jacques Adnet ---- found them in Paris on a recent trip. The green leather is original.

This pair of rock maple chairs in our chocolate room came alive with a waxed finish and ivory cowhide upholstery. They are the perfect size for side or desk chairs.

Since there are many fabulous additions to the JS Collectionthis year, we decided to devote an entire room to it. I love how our Louis Mirror pops above the platinum Palazzo banquette. The Rebecca Demilune with hand-tooled Greek key on the leather inset adds an interesting detail. The Harrison Coffee Tableis our little black dress because it works in any setting.
