Design Associate
Jan Showers & Associates is seeking an experienced Interior Design Associate to join our Dallas-based design studio. Our firm is known for refined luxury, timeless interiors, and an elevated approach to service and client experience. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of professional residential design experience, thrives in a highly curated environment, and is adept at managing both creative and technical aspects of high-end projects.

Role Responsibilities
Project & Team Management
- Manage 2–3 high-end residential projects at a time, supporting the Design Director and Principal.
- Lead communication with clients, contractors, trades, and vendors.
- Coordinate with consultants and fabricators to ensure accuracy and timely execution.
- Mentor junior staff and oversee day-to-day design workflow.
- Support Principals in client meetings and presentations.
- Maintain project timelines, deliverables, and billable hour accuracy.
Interior Design & Execution
- Create design concepts, material palettes, and curated furnishings selections.
- Prepare plans, elevations, millwork details, and finish schedules.
- Specify lighting, hardware, plumbing, textiles, furniture, rugs, and custom pieces.
- Develop FF&E proposals, budgets, quotes, and pricing from vendors and the Jan Showers Collection.
- Oversee orders, track production, review shop drawings, and ensure accurate fabrication.
- Lead installation coordination and quality control, including punch-lists and final styling.
- Participate in photoshoots, styling, and documentation of finished projects.
Software & Technical Requirements
- Studio Designer (or comparable FF&E accounting program)
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp or Rhino
- Rendering experience a plus
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Qualifications

4+ years of interior design experience with a portfolio that demonstrates luxury residential work.
- Highly organized, with strong verbal, written, graphic, and client-facing communication skills.
- Ability to develop documents and presentations for all phases of design, including schematic, design development, proposals, and installation.
- Strong design sensibility with a deep understanding of materials, finishes, textiles, furnishings, and antiques.
- Experience producing and coordinating construction documents, millwork details, and implementation drawings.
- Knowledge of residential building codes, technical detailing, and finish schedules.
- Ability to work independently while also managing and mentoring junior team members.
- Confident working with vendors, artisans, contractors, showrooms, and workshops.
- Curious, resourceful, and committed to staying current with new materials, vendors, product lines, and design resources.
- Pursuing NCIDQ certification, licensing, or affiliation with ASID/IIDA is encouraged.
- A positive attitude with flexibility, adaptability, and a sense of humor—essential in a fast-paced luxury design studio.
