Junior Design Associate
Jan Showers & Associates is seeking a talented and highly organized Junior Design Associate to support the creation and execution of luxury residential interiors. The ideal candidate has a strong aesthetic eye, excellent follow-through, and the ability to translate design direction into clear drawings, selections, and organized documentation.
This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and ideal for someone eager to learn how high-end design truly operates while contributing meaningful work from day one.
Role Responsibilities
Design Support
- Assist in developing design concepts, palettes, and initial material schemes.
- Pull fabrics, trims, rugs, finishes, and materials for presentations.
- Source furniture, lighting, hardware, and accessories across both trade and vintage.
- Prepare digital and physical presentation boards with a high level of refinement.
- Help create drawings, elevations, finish schedules, and basic millwork details.
- Assist with styling and installation days as needed.
CAD, Drawings, & Technical Assistance
- Update plans, elevations, sections, and schedules under direction of senior team.
- Measure spaces, inventory existing conditions, and document site details.
- Revise drawings as selections develop or project changes occur.

Help prepare construction documentation packages.
Procurement & Project Tasks
- Request quotes, pricing, images, samples, and lead times from vendors.
- Enter items into Studio Designer (or assist with data entry).
- Track sample requests and maintain sample library organization.
- Review proposals and invoices for accuracy before team review.
- Participate in installation prep, delivery coordination, and vendor communication.
Site & Vendor Coordination
- Attend site visits with the design team and help document progress.
- Photograph conditions, confirm measurements, and assist with punch-list notes.
- Help maintain strong relationships with showrooms, vendors, and workshops.
Studio Support
- Keep the library organized, updated, and reflective of the JSA aesthetic.
- Help organize project binders, digital folders, and material trays.
- Support designers with administrative tasks related to design execution.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in an interior design studio or related field.
- Strong aesthetic sensibility aligned with the Jan Showers style—refined, classic, layered, and luxe.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp is a plus.
- Ability to build beautiful, client-ready presentations in InDesign and Photoshop.
- Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, polished presence.
- Interest in antiques, vintage sourcing, custom furniture, and high-end materials.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and grace.
- Positive attitude, resourcefulness, and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
